If you plan on keeping in touch, my email is

giovanni "dot" {lastname} "at" gmail "dot com

My summer schedule will be the fullest it has been since sophomore year.  I am even afraid to post it, as I feel it would be looked at as overly-confident.  In addition to putting some final nails in the algebra I know, making it solid, I am taking an intensive summer course in French at UCB from June 26 to Aug 18.  If you are in the Bay Area and want to hang out, you will probably only be able to get in touch with me on the weekends, as I will be quite busy...  I'll post again when I feel I've stuck to my schedule for long enough to make it believable that I'm actually doing what I said I would do.

A Nice Problem with Nice Solution:

I made this up a few months ago and solved it soon after:

Is it possible to partition the plane into a collection of (nondegenerate) circles?

The solution is quite cute, I think.  Lemme know if you like it or have heard it else where (as I hope it's truly mine, mine, miiiiiiiineeeee!).

It's a tattered jacket that I wear

My clothes are pretty torn up nowadays; I realized that I've been wearing the same A&F articles that I purchased in high school, and they're all tearing at the seams.  I'm surprised that they lasted this long, actually.  Given that I was paying about $5 per artificially cut hole in my jeans, I would have guessed that they would have torn to shreds much faster.

In any case, I'm really looking like a hobo these days. The hair is longer than it has ever been, which is actually starting to look natural on me. I haven't cut it in about a year now, and I'm thinking about going all the way... the beard is growing out as well. All in all, I look like a tattered, stinking, hobo.  All the money I make, I spend on vacations with Rica and math books (not that I'm complaining about either), so I think I'll spend the next few paychecks on some nice clothing.

Other than that, I'm just enjoying math as best as possible; I'm very anxious to go to graduate school and do my own thing, so this year will suck a little, I think.

My sight is getting much worse, too.

Hm. I'm taking Renaissance Women's Literature this semester, which is kind of neat. Lots of unexpected issues were pertinent back in the day; tonight's topic is the wet nurse vs. a mother's brest feeding of her child. The argumesnts for breast feeding by a child's own mother are mostly driven by religious arguments, so it's kind of a moot topic to me.

Line up for next semester:

Graph Theory, Algebraic Number Theory, Algebraic Topology, Artificial Intelligence, Drawing, African American History.

Hm, what else. Well, I don't know what else to say.

ok, bye bye!
